David A. Flowers, the youngest of eleven children was born to the late Reverend David and Laura Rowell Flowers of Longwood, North Carolina. He attended the public school system in Brunswick County and later furthered his educational endeavors through attending James Sprunt Community College, Southeastern Community College, Shaw University and concluded with Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is presently married to Margie Holland Flowers. The couple has two children, David A. Flowers Jr. and A. Monique Flowers of Columbia, South Carolina.

Reverend Flowers' roots in the ministry stem from a long lineage of ministers. In 1967, he answered the call and later began his pastoral ministry at Sandy Plain Missionary Baptist Church in the Farmers Union Community. In 1974, he accepted the pastorate position at Central Baptist Church of Whiteville, North Carolina where he has remained for the last 34 years.

His community affiliations include Whiteville City Board Member for more than 20 years, former moderator of the Brunswick Waccamaw
Association, former president of the Ministerial Alliance in Whiteville, NC, a current member of the NC School Board Association, and has received numerous accolades and commendations for his humanitarian contributions.

Reverend David Flowers continues to extend his compassion for humanity. He diligently works with young people in the Upward Bound Program, as an Outreach Specialist at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, North Carolina.
